About the West Jordan Community Band

The West Jordan Community Band, located in the Salt Lake City suburb of West Jordan, Utah, is a welcoming American Style Concert Band that embraces players of all abilities. With a focus on the love of music, community, and joy, the band brings together individuals who share a passion for music making in a supportive and inclusive environment. More than just a group, we consider ourselves a musical family, united by our shared dedication to creating and celebrating the joy that music brings to our lives.

The band was formed in the spring of 1991 by Terry Holzworth and Diane Ward. Initially, it operated through the Adult Continuing Education System. Later, it became part of the West Jordan City and eventually the Cultural Arts Society of West Jordan. Over its 30+ years, the band has been led by many excellent directors, including Julie Christopherson, Rex Bailey, Dellane Jessop, and Jen Worthen. The band is now conducted by a dynamic team of veteran educators: Erik Wieben and Brandon Larsen. Mr Wieben & Mr Larsen have been conducting the ensemble since 2023.
